EMDR Therapy in Prosper, Texas and online in Texas and Washington state

I’m Lisa Delaplace, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Supervisor (LCSW-S), Certified Sex Therapist (CST), and a certified EMDR therapist. I am passionate about helping individuals heal from trauma and emotional distress through the transformative power of EMDR therapy.

What is EMDR Therapy?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an innovative, evidence-based therapeutic approach designed to help people process and heal from traumatic experiences, anxiety, depression, and other emotional difficulties. EMDR is different from traditional talk therapy; it focuses on the brain’s natural healing processes, enabling you to resolve the lingering effects of past experiences and move toward a more peaceful and empowered state of mind.

Does EMDR Work?

Yes, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) has been extensively researched and proven effective for treating trauma, anxiety, and other emotional distress. It helps the brain reprocess traumatic memories, reducing their emotional impact and allowing for healthier coping mechanisms. Many individuals experience significant relief and positive changes in a relatively short amount of time. While results can vary, EMDR is widely recognized as a powerful and effective therapeutic approach.

How Does EMDR Work?

EMDR therapy follows a structured, eight-phase process:

  1. History Taking and Treatment Planning: We begin by exploring your history and identifying specific memories or issues that need to be addressed.

  2. Preparation: This phase involves building a strong therapeutic alliance and teaching you techniques to manage distressing emotions.

  3. Assessment: We target specific memories or beliefs that cause emotional disturbance and measure their impact.

  4. Desensitization: Using bilateral stimulation (often through guided eye movements), we reprocess these memories, reducing their emotional intensity.

  5. Installation: Positive beliefs are reinforced, replacing negative thoughts and emotions.

  6. Body Scan: We ensure that the body is free from residual tension or distress related to the targeted memories.

  7. Closure: Each session ends with techniques to ensure you feel grounded and safe.

  8. Reevaluation: In subsequent sessions, we review progress and adjust treatment as needed.

By reprocessing distressing memories, EMDR allows your brain to heal naturally, reducing the impact of past trauma and promoting healthier emotional responses.

What Are EMDR Intensives?

In addition to traditional weekly sessions, I offer EMDR intensives—a powerful and focused therapeutic experience designed to accelerate healing. Intensives involve longer sessions, typically in 3-hour increments, allowing us to delve deeper into your therapeutic work without the interruptions of shorter, weekly sessions.

Benefits of EMDR Intensives

EMDR intensives are ideal for those seeking accelerated healing or those who prefer a more concentrated approach to therapy. Some benefits of intensives include:

  • Faster Progress: Intensive sessions allow for deeper processing, helping you to move through your healing journey more quickly.
  • Focused Attention: With extended time, we can concentrate on specific issues or memories, allowing for more thorough reprocessing in a single session.
  • Convenience: For individuals with busy schedules or those traveling from out of town, EMDR intensives offer an efficient way to engage in therapy without the need for frequent, weekly appointments.
  • Tailored Approach: Each intensive is customized to your unique needs, ensuring that we address the issues most important to you.

How much does EMDR cost?

EMDR therapy sessions cost between $170.00 for a 1 hour session to  $510.00 for a 3 hour intensive session.  The total cost of therapy will depend on the number of sessions, which will vary based on individual needs and the nature of the issues being addressed.

In many cases, insurance will pay for or reimburse for some of the cost of treatment.

Is an EMDR Intensive Right for You?

If you’ve been struggling with trauma, anxiety, or other emotional challenges and are ready to experience significant progress, an intensive may be the right choice. Whether you’ve tried therapy before or are new to the process, EMDR intensives offer a unique opportunity to make substantial strides in your healing journey in a relatively short period of time.
