Session fees for cash pay or out of network insurance clients are due at the time of service. It is your responsibility to know your insurance benefits. To find out whether insurance will reimburse you for services, call your insurance customer service number and ask:

        • Do I have out of network benefits and if so, what are they for mental health?

        • Does my insurance cover telehealth visits?

        • Does outpatient mental health therapy with an out of network provider require a pre-authorization for me to be reimbursed?

Couples therapy is not usually covered by insurance because it is not considered medically necessary. In relationship therapy, the relationship is the client, not one individual.  For insurance to pay for therapy, there has to be medical necessity, an identified client with a diagnosed mental health disorder that is the focus of the couples/family therapy session.   The medical records belong to the identified client.  Some insurances will pay for couples/family therapy with a non-diagnostic code of Z-63.0 (Problems in relationship with spouse or partner).  In this case, there is still an identified client, but no mental health diagnosis necessary.  You will need to call your insurance to know what they will cover.

Intensives are not covered by insurance.
